First off, I just want to say how excited I am to be in Europe. I booked this trip OVER A YEAR AGO, so you can only imagine the anticipation that has been leading up to this exact moment. Before our official EF Break tour starts, Megan, Jonah and I decided to leave early while we wait for Allie to graduate and explore some parts of Europe that are not included in the tour. And I am SO glad that we did. It still feels like a dream that I'm even in Europe right now. I have no words to describe how happy I am to be back traveling again, and am thrilled to take full advantage of this experience. Our first stop was Prague, Czech Republic. I had no idea what to expect out of this place, but I can certainly say it is unique in its own way and has been one of my favorite locations I've ever visited.
Prague is an old town filled with cobblestone roads, history, beautiful architecture, (lots of beer), and breathtaking scenery that has you taking photos at every hundred feet. Our first day here, we explored the town along with a drinking tour to see some important monuments and enjoy some beer and sangria. Needless to say although we were extremely jet-lagged (still kind of am), it was an exciting first day in Europe.
The next morning we woke up unwillingly early and took a hike from our hostel across the Charles Bridge to visit the John Lennon Wall, the Prague Castle and to end at the Petrin Tower... all highly recommended. The views were phenomenal, and although my feet already hate me, the 10 mile exploration on foot was well worth it. We then made our way to an Ice Bar where we drank mixed drinks out of ice cube glasses in a room that was -7 degrees Celsius. It sounds kind of awful, especially if you hate being cold, but it was certainly an experience. To finish up our time in Prague, we spent the following afternoon paddle boating on the Vlatva Canal, and then made our way to Old Town Square, the Jewish Museum and ended the night by visiting an innovative and modern Sex Machines Museum, the only museum in the world that displays and educates about sex machines and toys (sorry Mom & Dad).
Prague has a ton of fun things to do, and is also fairly cheap for what you are getting out of it. I didn't think I would like it as much as I did, but I always realize that I leave my heart in each and every place that I visit. I'm sad to leave Prague so soon, but am so excited for the rest of the trip ahead of us. Next stop: Berlin, Germany!
