For those of you who are reading this blog post and are studying in Australia soon... If you can get the chance to go to New Zealand, PLEASE DO IT. This was the highlight of my entire trip. I traveled solo in New Zealand and was there by myself for 9 days. I was on a tour bus with other people my age and we hopped on and hopped off wherever we wanted and for however long we wanted to. It was called Kiwi Experience- seriously look into it if you plan on going to NZ.
New Zealand is the "Adventure" capital of the WORLD. So I tried to do as many things here as I could. I was nervous about traveling alone, but soon realized how sociable I was and how easy it is to make friends when you're traveling alone- because you have no choice but to talk to others around you. I made a ton of friends, most of which I still keep in contact with, who are from all over the world. We stayed in hostels every night and had group dinners and lunches daily according to whatever we had planned for the day. There was never a day to relax. From skydiving 15,000 feet from a plane, to climbing waterfalls, spending 5 hours underground in the beautiful Waitomo Glowworm Caves, to 8 mile walks to Cathedral Cove, ZORBing down the hills with herds of sheep, to staying overnight in a Maori people village, visiting the set of the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings, having night time booze cruises on the biggest lake in New Zealand, chasing sunsets every night... the things I did in New Zealand are things that will stay close to my heart and engraved in my memory forever. If you want to find out more about my trip, contact me or leave a comment and I will get back to you!
